The Immigration Crisis Continues

Migrants continue to flee war and conflict in Afghanistan, Syria and region of the Northern America.

About 3,000 refuges a day are pouring into Balkans in hope to end up in Western Europe. Thousands of migrants are stuck at Budapest’s Keleti train station creating a crisis in Hungary while awaiting officials to decide their fate. Hungry is building a 109′ razor wire fence along the Serbian boarder and passing laws to arrest migrants trying to cross into Hungary from Serbia illegally. Officials will meet again in October to discuss the crisis.

I support strict laws for European countries to limit refuge to a small number of migrants. If refuges are not screened terrorists could be allowed into European countries and a large number of refuges could cost tax payers due to need for healthcare, food, and housing for these migrants. The countries safety and resources could be compromised. The same issues would arise with migrants allowed into the Untied States. Therefore over all I believe that small numbers should be indicated more so we do not have this problem in the future.

With the increasing population in Syria it will spread once the area is no longer available. The whole entire world will soon be over populated. These people that are now taking up more space then there are right now will lead into having to build more buildings for shelter and we will have very little green land. This can also effect wildlife by more people which means more meat so this would put a dent in that population as well. In conclusion this event may not seem like a big deal right now but if the population continues to speed up we will see a lot of immigrants in the Untied States and across the world.

Claiming to be a growing community, Rock Hill has just announced even though they do not usually build their stores within 75 miles of each other they will be receiving the next Super Wal-Mart on May of 2006. After giving the news some of the community members feel this is a bad idea so they are sending a petition around along with a town meeting on May 23.

Restaurant Report Card Grades on Antibiotics in Meat Supply

This week for my current event article I chose a topic regarding antibiotics stocked in meat supply for 25 fast food restaurants in the U.S.

This article discusses an alarming use of antibiotics in the meat and poultry supply of 25 of the largest US fast food and “fast casual” restaurants. The concern of the antibiotics being administered routinely to flocks and herds is that the consumers that are eating these meats are at risk of antibiotics resistance meaning antibiotics may not work when we need them the most. This article includes a study of grades restaurants received on their antibiotics use policies and response of implementation of their policies to make food safer and more affordable.

I’m pleased to hear that public health and environmental organizations conducted a study of antibiotics use policies of the meat supply in common fast food chains and restaurants that most Americans consume frequently. I’m also glad to be informed that Chipotle and Panera Bread scored with “A’s” and report that the majority of their meat supply conveys from animals raised without regular use of antibiotics. Chick-Fil-A scored a “B” and reported that they were the first in the quick service restaurant industry to announce a commitment to “No antibiotics ever” in its chicken supply back in 2014. Dunking Donuts and McDonalds received a “C” and Subway, Wendy’s, Burger King, Denny’s, Domino’s, and Starbucks received and “F”. Most of these restaurants report they will be working with their supplies to address concerns about antibiotic use.

This report encourages us to think more about the quality of food we consume at restaurants. Also that we need to ask about meat sources in restaurants and on social media. It’s a scary thing thought to think that people could die from a common infection because of our society creating a problem of antibiotic resistance from eating meats and poultry from animals treated routinely with antibiotics. Imagine if the antibiotics rate is high in the U.S considering we probably have the most sanitized country then what do you think the rates are around the rest of the world. If educated consumers demanded better and healthier meat options from fast food stops and restaurants, they will become more available and decrease our rise of antibiotics not working when we need them.

Earth’s 25-Year Tree Loss Would Cover Texas Twice

The topic of my event this week is over Earth’s 25-Year Tree Loss Would Cover Texas Twice.

According to Patrick Kiger’s article the tree loss across the world over the past 25 years would equal out to cover Texas twice. If this continues it will prove out to be a big global warming problem because of the additional amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. With trees being cut down at the rate they are the worst of the condition we are in for not only animal habitats but for humans as well.

It is a shame that the need for wood is causing so many problems here on earth. I personally do not know how this problem can be solved. With the population explosion all over the world, the need for housing and construction are in great demands. I do believe that instead of using so much lumber, houses can start being made out of more other products such as steel. In the future due to the lack of oxygen in the air, I myself as well as others might find themselves getting short winded more often causing their energy level to be less. In conclusion I am encouraged to hear later on that the need for more wood is going to be helped through the management of replanting and regulation.

Cutting down trees adds more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere than all the cars and trucks in the world. The destruction of trees also causes a biodiversity problem. It affects a variety of different types of life. It is a measurement of the variety of organisms present in different ecosystems like air, water, and mineral soil. With more carbon dioxide in the air, the amount of oxygen lacking causes destroyed animal habitats and erosion the contributes to flooding and water pollution.

Gun Violence in U.S. Spreading Like the Flu: Experts

Gun Violence in U.S. Spreading Like the Flu: Experts

Sited Source- http://news.discovery.com/human/life/violence-becomes-contagious-like-the-flu-150902.htm

The Center for Gun Policy and Research at Johns Hopkins University has recently discovered the topic of gun violence spreading through the U.S. In this article you will discover where the real problem to gun violence is people having easy access to them. As referred to in the title the increasing rates of gun violence is spreading throughout America like a wildfire. While reading this issue I feels as if in today’s society we are constantly having to be aware of our surroundings.

If I were to put myself in a position in this issue I would simple say at this point I am not against it or for it. In my opinion both of these sides have equally amount of truths. I feel with the populations growth and gun production on an upswing in one way does not reflect the true percentage of violent crimes in America. I also feel strongly about being concerned of gun violence and cautious of what is going on around us at all times. It affects me even though I live in a less populated area there is still a lot of gun violence being reported.

As bad as the gun violence is here in America it is even worse in the world. Especially in the Middle East where there is so many countries trying to overpower other countries. Due to the amount of weapons in the United States and Russia have in their possession they are able to furnish most of the countries that are fighting each other with the weapons that they need. There would not be as much gun violence throughout these other countries if they were not able to receive these weapons so easily. It is a shame that these countries feel the need to continue to overpower the small defenceless countries instead of letting them live in peace.

In conclusion I think as a country we should take these crimes into consideration by not allowing these guns to be so easily made available. As an individual there is very little I can do to help but if we would all make an effort to help remedy this problem there would not be as many gun violence rates.
