Gun Violence in U.S. Spreading Like the Flu: Experts

The Center for Gun Policy and Research at Johns Hopkins University has recently discovered the topic of gun violence spreading through the U.S. In this article you will discover where the real problem to gun violence is people having easy access to them. As referred to in the title the increasing rates of gun violence is spreading throughout America like a wildfire. While reading this issue I feels as if in today’s society we are constantly having to be aware of our surroundings.

If I were to put myself in a position in this issue I would simple say at this point I am not against it or for it. In my opinion both of these sides have equally amount of truths. I feel with the populations growth and gun production on an upswing in one way does not reflect the true percentage of violent crimes in America. I also feel strongly about being concerned of gun violence and cautious of what is going on around us at all times. It affects me even though I live in a less populated area there is still a lot of gun violence being reported.

As bad as the gun violence is here in America it is even worse in the world. Especially in the Middle East where there is so many countries trying to overpower other countries. Due to the amount of weapons in the United States and Russia have in their possession they are able to furnish most of the countries that are fighting each other with the weapons that they need. There would not be as much gun violence throughout these other countries if they were not able to receive these weapons so easily. It is a shame that these countries feel the need to continue to overpower the small defenceless countries instead of letting them live in peace.

In conclusion I think as a country we should take these crimes into consideration by not allowing these guns to be so easily made available. As an individual there is very little I can do to help but if we would all make an effort to help remedy this problem there would not be as many gun violence rates.

Persuasive Speech on Gun Control

Recently, I was asked if I thought we needed stricter gun control laws. My answer was simply no and the following quote by Bob Barr is a perfect explanation why I agree with this because it states “It’s not a gun control problem; it’s a cultural control problem.” In my opinion, I believe that these gun control laws will affect our loved ones, are already strict enough, and could potentially be a threat to our freedom and independence.

First of all, I think the main goal for gun control should be towards protection and not only for ourselves but for our loved ones as well. Let’s say you are in a situation where it involves your family dying or living what would you choose? I don’t know about you but I would want them to be able to live and let my family know that I could protect them if someone ever tried to threaten them. With these stricter gun control laws this could easily affect the decision that is made because if the family cannot purchase a gun then how are they going to protect themselves?

Secondly, from the laws I have read concerning gun control have seemed to have the right amount of both strictness and leniency. One rule states that you should be of 18 years or older and have a registered licence before you can get a gun. Another law states that you cannot openly carry around a gun unless you have a Concealed Handgun License and the only way you can get one is by taking a class. What I’m trying to get at is these laws that are enforced now have been working for five decades since President Johnson, in 1967, released a letter to Congress urging both houses to take quick action on gun control. My suggestion is that we keep the same laws just make the awareness of the gun control broader.

Lastly, we can’t forget that America is the country with the most freedom and we don’t want to lose it from silly gun control laws. What I mean by this is if the Government thinks they can get away with enforcing more and more laws than us Americans will soon lose our independence. This may seem like not a big deal right now but in the future we will soon regret our decision with wanting stricter laws. Not only would this affect us regretting the decision it would also affect the 1st and 2nd because the 1st amendment states that we have the freedom of speech and the 2nd amendment gives us the right to bear arms.

In conclusion, what Bob Barr’s quote means is just because the Government might decide to change and make the laws stricter doesn’t mean the people will necessarily follow because the people are the real problem. In the end the laws shouldn’t be changed because the new laws can affect your family, the laws now are already a good compromise, and the new laws could also take away the people’s freedom forever.

Texas Ecoregions

This is Where the Blackland Praire is located.

Climate: Moist; Mainly Sunny; and good rainfall. The temperature of the Blackland prarie varies all around the year. During the winter it varies from mid 40’s to 50’s Fahrenheit. And in the summer it varies from low to upper 90’s Fahrenheit.

These are animals in the Blackland Praire’s wildlife.

These plants are the vegetation.

INTERESTING FACTS!!!!!

Texas was once 3/4 prairie and savanna. The Tallgrass Coastal Prairies reached many miles inland from the Gulf, and the Tallgrass Prairie extended from southern Canada through Fort Worth-Dallas south to San Antonio including Texas’ Blackland Prairies and Grand Prairie.

My Science Art!

My favorite part of science is Meterorology. I get to learn how rain works and what it is made from. In different parts of the world its always sunny or rainy. You also get to learn about the weather and the climate. Climate is the overall weather in like a year. Weather is what it’s like that day. This is why I like Meterorology!
